The Montreal Mirror came out with there annual 'Best of Montreal' readers poll for 2012 this week. And excitedly enough, EnMasse made the front cover as Montreal's #2 graffiti crew pick! There popularity continues to grow and their projects keep pilling up! Keep an eye on these cats, they are not slowing down. Rupert Bottenberg (co-director of the EnMasse project) just launched his new book called "TRAUMSTADTDENKEN", a collection of comics and images by the artist. He came into our shop to create some limited edition prints to go along with the book launch, and we thought it would be a great selection for our May edition of PRINT OF THE MONTH. 

The process Rupert used is called Rubylith, an old technique that was used in silkscreen printing to mask areas of a design and create the sharpest edges (this was before adobe illustrator hit everybody's desktop). He mapped out his design, cut the film by hand, and we developed and printed it in black on off white heavyset paper.  

Rupert then went on to paint each of the 45 PRINTS by HAND, using water-colour paints. Everyone is different and really detailed. They are all signed, stamped and numbered. We ship them out as a draw, so every order is a surprise. The print measures out at 18x15 inches and makes a great addition to anyones wall. Check out the video for more on the process! 

Fantastic Day! We finally received our new silkscreen printer, especially for poster printing, now we'll be pumping out new prints by the hour! Equipped with a vacuum, this will bring printing to a whole other level!!

Being in the Shop 8 hours a day, every day (weekends too) can be a little dreary. So, we try to surround ourselves with art... it brightness our day. The newest addition is this Stikki Peaches "Halfsies" canvas piece of Diana and Mother Teresa. 

His work is all over montreal, and his new 'Halfsies' series is getting a lot of attention. We first noticed his work last year when it popped up in the Chabanel area, right by our shop. Since then we been following his work, and hope to release a print with him before the end of the summer!

 Antoine Tavaglione appears in Monday mornings Montreal Metro newspaper. The article highlighted MassivArt's Chromatic event and its 150 featured artists. We are all geared up for the event!

Here are some photos of a new mural done by Earth Crusher this past weekend. The Office belongs to LEVINE and DLC accounting firm in Centropolis, Laval. They reached out to us here at Station 16 after seeing some of the work done by Earth Crusher on our site!

Here at Station16, we're always looking into what's happening in the silkscreening world. New prints, different techniques, paper types, ink types... We're basically screen printing nerds. Along with that love for printing, comes an infatuation for art and art shows. 

Recently Station16 had the opportunity to acquire Banksy's "Morons" (print number 75/300). We jumped on it, and it gave us a chance to get a closer look at how the worlds most prolific graffiti artist prints his work. 

Stay tuned into Station16, we'll be doing a 5 à 7 showing of the print and more at the shop this summer, and you're all invited!  

Looks like we have a case of opera gown envy on our hands!

In 2010, Camilla Belle stepped out at the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Armida in this cream Yves Saint Laurent gown with feathered layers, a black velvet bow and black and white detailing around the bust.

The 25-year-old Push actress looked confident and sexy with strappy black sandals and a side-part updo.

While this week, Hugo star Chloë Moretz wore the same strapless gown in navy to the same location—gasp!—but this time for the Opera Gala premiere of Manon. From the updo to the dress, the only difference from Camilla seems to be the black choker and choice of color.

Question : So which of these actresses worked their opera ensemble best, 15-year-old Chloë or 25-year old Camilla?

Right Answer: They both look FANTASTIC, as does the limited edition screen print LSY created by artist, Antoine Tavaglione which was proudly produced at Station16. This two color screen print with GOLD METALLIC (bling ! bling !) and black ink on off white paper, meaures 22 x 30 "

Bonhams magazine is the world's premier auction house magazine. Launched in 2005 by its present editor, Lucinda Bredin, the magazine is published quarterly and highlights some of the star items coming up for auction in Bonhams salerooms. But it aims to do more than provide glossy pictures with long captions, the magazine explores stories behind the works. 

Their most recent issue, which focus's on Urban Art (with Banksy on the front cover) features a back cover by none other than Station 16's own Labrona. With auction houses in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, USA, and Australia, Station 16 is honoured to be working with an artist like Labrona!

As a follower of Street Art, here at Station 16 we always take notice to the work around us. Recently we had been noticing these great wheat pastes entitled "Saints of Jazz" in the Plateau area in Montreal, and wondered who this mysterious Miss Me artist could be? Her Jazz Saints Icons and Naughty Betty Boop have been adorning our Streets and recently have popped up at The Fresh Paint Gallery.

So when Miss Me called Station16 a couple of weeks ago to produce some screen printed tees with her images... We immediatley got excited thinking about the Betty Boop image, (did i write that out loud)....Anyways, working with Miss Me was a great pleasure ! Her attention to quality and detail make this t-shirt run a true work of Art !

The works created by our talented Montreal Street and Pop artists brought the Station a ton of attention. We were well received by New York collectors, artists and galleries alike !

The Armory Show, a leading international contemporary and modern art fair and one of the most important annual art events in New York, takes place every March. Station16 will be exhibiting the works of our local Montreal street and pop artists at the Fountain Art Fair, which graduates to its own armory: 69th Regiment's, at Lexington Avenue and 26th Street.

Station16 recently collaborated with Montreal artist, Fred Caron to produce a special limited edition print in honour of The Armory, which is best known as the site of the controversial 1913 Armory Show in which modern art was first publicly presented in the United States. The image depicts Theodore Roosevelt  who took a moderate approach, lauding the unconventional spirit of the Armory Show while casually dismissing the work of such “European extremists” as the Cubists and the Futurists.

This four color screen print (22 x 30") glows in the dark and reveals a hidden message ! Entitled, "The Velt", it will be sold exclusively at the Station16 booth at Fountain ! Make sure to check it out !

     "Nuit Blanche" was a very special event for us, we saw over 3000 people that night and had the chance to showcase amongst many other talented Artists and Organizations! We even made the news! CBC broadcasted this report on Februrary 28th, and check out the ARTV video and interview right below!

 This Saturday February 25th (starting at 6pm), Montrealers will have the opportunity to visit a number of spaces and venues during "Nuit Blanche", a night that celebrates the arts during "Montréal en Lumière", as well as a night where the public can ride the Montreal Metro (STM) all night... for free! And this year Station16 will be showcasing work in the 'A à C' project, an artistic project by CEASE, ArtTV, Quebecor, & Art Souterrain. 

    This project is actually connected by two spaces, the first is the ArtTV gallery space located in Place-des-Arts where Station16 will be displaying some our original works, there will be drinks and a 'special' object for all! The second is at the Centre de Commerce Mondial (CCM) de Montréal, where people who have visited the ArtTV space and obtained the 'special' object can exchange it at CCM for free art! Check out both spaces for the full experience and witness what we've been up to in the shop. You can actually VOTE for the A to C project and show us some love.

Fresh Paint is a temporary project space presented by Under Pressure Festival in Montreal. It is located at 180 St Catherine East, and invites artists to come in and use the space as a canvas. But after a month, the walls are painted white and new artists are invited to use the space. This month (Station16's own) Labrona was invited to paint a mural, along with Force Majeure, Stikki Peaches, Gawd & Roadsworth. Check out the work soon!

Alex Produkt is a Montreal based artist working in animations and street art. His work has been exhibited internationally and commissioned by the likes of Musique Plus and Bravo. You can also see his work in alleyways, rooftops and at times Freight trains – some as commissions, some as pure inspiration. Using spray paint, oil bars and acrylics he wants to create an experience for the image by capturing the magic of the experience – the meta real. 

A recurring theme in his work are scary adults that are looming over you and that will be the central theme for one of his upcoming shows. Over the years he has exhibited in Berlin, Tokyo, Mexico and Los Angeles. Upcoming shows include an exhibit in partnership with painter Francois Escalmel as well as numerous solo and group shows. We are a passionate textile and paper screen printing company located in Montreal, Canada. We have gone MAD for Street and Pop art not only from Montreal but from an international scale and decided to set up an ART STUDIO which focuses on producing screen print multiples for artists. 

With over 20 years of experience in the textile screen print business,  we open our doors to artist from all over and invite them to come create limited edition screen print multiples. Prints are for sale through our online platform and at our shop on Rue de Louvain in Montreal, Canada. Prints can be shipped to Canada, US and anywhere in the world.  All prints are limited edition and signed by the artists.

In Montreal we dedicate a work area for artists to experiment with different print techniques. Many of the artists online come to our store to create their works. Below is an overview of how these limited edition prints are made:

-The artist creates and draws his design onto paper.  We welcome artists to work in our studio space.

-The artwork is scanned into computer where the artist works with a graphic artist to color separate image and size the art

-Artwork is outputted onto transparent films

-Image from film is exposed to a screen using a light table. Every color is exposed to its own screen. A five color screen print requires  5 screens..

-We rinse out the exposed imaged burned onto screen and let dry

-Screen is now ready to be set up onto machine and printed.

-Once paper is printed, they are placed on a shelving rack to air dry. 

-Once dry, Artist signs and numbers the edition and voila – limited edition prints available for sale online.
